The Halcyon CMS app is an app available to facilitate QR code scanning. The app is the same Halcyon system that you would see logged in to the usual browser experience except there are buttons available to turn on the device's camera to scan the QR code. The app user will scan the QR code to fill in a data field within Halcyon.
The Apple version is available in the Apple app store and is called "Halcyon CMS" and the Android version can be found in the Google Play Store, or by following this link: Halcyon CMS Android App
There are various places to scan in the QR code. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Case lookup that is on the top of every screen (if enabled on your system)
- Tracking ID wanted at Case Add
- Tracking ID wanted within tracking screen.
Note these helpful tips and business rules for the CMS App:
- Your cursor must be in the input field you would like to scan into

How to Scan a QR Code: To use the scanner, touch the input field in Halcyon that you wish to scan into. Click on either of the barcode icons at the top left or right. This will engage the camera. Hold the camera over the QR code and the code automatically will be read into your current input field.

When you are moving a body through the tracking screen there are four scans that must take place: Current Step, Current Location, Desired Step, and Desired Location. You only need to place the cursor in the first field. After a successful scan of the code it will auto-tab to the next field required to scan.
Troubleshooting Tips
If you don't see the barcode scanning icons at the top of the screen:
If you do not see the barcode scanning icons at the top of the screen make sure you have Location Services enable for the app.
1) In the app, click the gear/sun icon on the top right. This will open up the app settings as show below.
.
2) Click the QR Code and App Settings gear icon and you will see the following screen. Make sure that Location is set to "While Using". If not click on the row to change the setting.
3) Check the box next to "While Using the App". Your barcode scanning icons should now appear enabling you to use your device as the QR scanner.
If your app times out quickly:
If you app times out quickly check and modify the timeout interval if necessary:
In the app, click the gear/sun icon on the top right. This will open up the app settings as show below.
Click the QR Code and App Settings gear icon and you will see the following screen. Check the value for "Timeout Seconds". Touch the value to modify it. Set the timeout value to 120 or greater.
Also make sure the "Use Cached Pages" is on.
You do not have the option to log in using Touch or Face ID:
The app must have the setting for "USE Face ID or Touch ID" enable. It should be enabled by default. You can verify that by opening up the settings (see how to do that in the section above).
If you have Face/Touch ID enabled and still have trouble, force close the app and reopen it.
If you still have trouble, delete the app from your device and download it again from the app store. Search for "Halcyon CMS".
If you still have trouble, contact Technical Support.
If your app is still frequently requiring you to log back in and you have the above adjustments it could be related to several things beyond Halcyon's control.
1) You may have been idle for more than your set auto-logout interval. For security reasons Halcyon will automatically log out if there has been absolutely no activity for your time out interval. Activity means anything from moving the cursor, navigating to another page, saving etc. This interval is typically one hour but it can be adjusted. You should see a message that you were auto-logged off due to an extended period of inactivity if this happens.
2) You may have lost your connection to wi-fi or cell. This could happen if you are in an area with poor or spotty reception.
3) It could be related to your phone's operating system. The Halcyon scanner app will restart after a forced timeout by the phone's operating system which can occur anytime the app is not being used or when the device is sleeping. Its not possible for Halcyon to override that.
