Contract Discounts may be applied to the Purchases or configured in a Price Group. You may configure the discount to be a flat dollar amount discount, which is editable, or you may configure a discount to automatically calculate a percentage discount.
Depending on the configuration of your Purchases screen you will see an option to add PreTax and/or After Tax Discounts.
To add a discount, click the green plus sign and you will be able to select from your pre-configured discount options.
Contract Discount Configuration
You may add and maintain your discounts via Admin > Financial Maintenance > Contract Discounts > Contract Discount Maintenance.
To add a Discount, click the Add Discount button at the top of the screen. You will be presented with a dialog box where you will enter the name you wish to give this discount as well as the type of discount: either a Flat Amount or a Calculated Percentage.
If you choose Flat Amount you may enter a default amount. Note that if you enter an dollar amount you will be able to modify the value after you select that contract discount on the Purchases screen.
If you choose Calculated Percent you will enter the percent discount you wish to give and select the contract subtotal sections that the discount should be based on. You may select one or more contract section subtotals.
If a discount has been assigned to a price group or has been previously used on any case, it may not be edited. If you wish to change the discount, inactivate the current discount and create a new one with your new setup. The list of inactivated discounts will appear at the bottom of the page.
Inactivating a discount will also deactivate it on any existing price groups where is has been assigned. If you later reactive discount it will be re-added to any previously assigned price group.
Pre-Tax Discounts
Pre Tax discounts are applied to the taxable amount in a few different ways.
If the discount is a flat amount then when coming up with the taxable amount Halcyon will assume that that discount was first applied to taxable sections. For instance, if only merchandise is taxed, and there is a flat rate discount of $100, the full $100 will be discounted from the merchandise amount pre-tax.
If a percent discount is set, only the discount amount for the taxable section is applied to the taxable amount. For instance. If Services are not taxable and Merchandise is taxable and there is a 10% discount applied to both Services and Merchandise, only the 10% discount from merchandise will be applied to the taxable amount.
