The Admin >Screen Customizations > Service Type Configuration options allows you add or edit the your service types, subtypes, optionally limit subtype selections to a chosen service type and optionally allow the delayed entry of Service type for At Need cases.
Service Type and Subtype List Maintenance
The value for Service Type is used with Financial reporting, therefor, a Service Type must be entered for all AT NEED cases.
You may maintain your list of Service Types and set the Display Order via the "Service Types" link on the Admin Menu. If you want to further categorize your Service Type information you may maintain a list of Service Subtypes via the "Service Subtypes" link on the Admin Menu.
Optionally Link Service Subtype to Service TypeType
If you have setup Service Types and Subtypes you may chose to create dependencies between your Service Type and Subtypes. This will limit the Service Subtype options based on the selected Service Type. If you do not create dependencies for a Service Type, any Service Subtype can be selected regardless of the selected Service Subtype. All of your Service Types and Subtypes must be already configured in order to create optional linkages.
An example may be the most straightforward way to relay how this works:
In the screenshote below, if "At-Need Burial" is selected as the Service Type on a case, only the 3 options shown for subtype will be available for subtype selection.
There has not been any subtypes linked to "Maturing Pre-Need - Burial", so if "Maturing Pre-Need - Burial" is entered for the Service Type then ANY current value that has been configured for subtype may be chosen.
In order to maintain your service type and subtype links, click the "Maintain Linked Subtype" button below the Service Type you will to configure.
Click in the input box and a list of service subtypes will be displayed. Continue to click in the input box and select subtype options until you have selected all the subtypes that are to be available for this service type.
Once all your selections been made, click the "Update Linked Subtypes" to update your list. If you wish to remove a selected subtype, simply click the "x" next to the subtype.
Allow Delayed Entry of Service Type
By default, At Need cases must have a Service Type entered either on the Case Add Screen, depending on your field visibility settings, or it is required on the Case > Services screen. This is due to the fact that the Service Type is required for financial reporting for At Need cases.
However, you may wish to allow the delayed entry of the Service Type and/or Service Subtype until purchases are made for the At Need case. You can enable this by setting the Service Type Delayed Entry option to "Yes" and/or setting the Require a Service Subtype to "Yes".
If the Service Type setting is "Yes" when the Purchases page is visited AND no Service Type has been selected yet, a notification message will appear notifying the user that a Service Type must be entered. Similarly, if the Subtype is required when the Purchases page is visited and no Service Subtype has been entered the pop up will display an informational notification.
When OK is clicked the user will be re-directed to the Services page so the Service Type may be entered.
